The extent of the works included the decommissioning of an existing data centre building to accommodate the new use with workstation accommodation for 700 staff over 5 floors & support infrastructure amenities, breakout spaces and collaboration zones.

Complex essential services were arranged in a N +1 configuration to ensure redundancy in the event of any failures as well as integrated AV & IT facilities.

Commencing in August 2017 the programme from the outset was constrained. To deal with this and de-risk the project APG managed the project by the;

– Preparation of a high-level design establishing the client’s minimum functional requirements to allow a tender to be issued within 6 weeks of commencement & early procurement of long lead items for essential services
– Engagement of a preferred contractor under a collaborative ‘Early Contractor Involvement’ (ECI) process to refine the design
– Value engineering exercise with the Contractor to achieve the project budgets while maintaining the critical scope items
– Progressive testing & relocations by the Business Continuity team
The collaborative team approach during construction enabled the full integration of all client streams to be achieved within the complex constraints of the project.
