After a year of delays, the air has finally been cleared and the processes required to amalgamate various schools in the Pozieres region, under the guidance of the French educational authorities, are underway.

“The French-Australian bilingual school in Pozieres is not only a meaningful gift made by the Australian people but also a great pedagogic opportunity for children residing in both countries. This ambitious initiative, building on the strong historical bonds between France and Australia and promoting our bilateral cooperation in the education sector, is supported by the French government, represented by the Prefet, by the French Ministry of Education both on a national and local level (rectorat) as well as the mayors of this region.” French Ambassador to Australia, Christophe Penot to Will Davies, founder and chairman of the Board.

This important step gives APG and all parties involved confidence to re-approach the Australian Government for partial funding. Noted war historian and project founder, Will Davies, will be meeting with French officials to receive a formal project briefing.

This project is dedicated to the ANZACs who bravely fought on the Western Front and will serve as a living memorial in their memory.
